2014 Zinfandel

$32.00

Classic Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel aromas fill the glass with fresh picked black raspberry laced with spicy pepper. The smooth entry releases a burst of juicy mixed berries—blackberry, boysenberry and cherry—with notes of mocha, cocoa and baking spices joining mid-palate. Traces of black pepper are woven into the background along with a gentle oak and tannic structure.

Fresh and focused with a touch of elegance, this wine will pair beautifully with an array of cuisine. Our favorite is always Italian, of course, but this versatile Zin will also complement Cuban chicken, low-and-slow baby back ribs, or grilled pork tenderloin drizzled with a wild berry reduction sauce.

At Del Carlo Winery, when we say “Old Vine Zinfandel” we don’t mean 20, 40 or even 60-year-old vines. Our Zinfandel comes from vines that are over 100 years old—those are old vines!

Through decades of sustainable farming practices, we’ve maintained the health of our century-plus old grapevines. Unlike many old vine Zinfandels that tend toward pruney or cloying flavors, our vines produce fruit with the great depth of character found in old vines and the bright fresh flavors of healthy, youthful vines. The proof is in the bottle.

Our Old Vine Zinfandel is grown in the heart of the Dry Creek Valley’s eastern benchland. These old vines, hand selected from our family’s oldest block, reflect the ideal 2014 growing season. Delicious and full flavored, this wine showcases the elegant and refined dimensions of Zinfandel, and seamlessly pairs with our favorite meals.
