2013 Cabernet Sauvignon

$30.00

An inviting aromatic blend of dark cherry and currant is swirled with notes of mocha-laced oak and just a hint of cigar box. The easy entry quickly reveals layers of cherry—black, tart and Rainer—along with red currant, spicy cedar, and traces of caramel, creamy coffee, and eucalyptus. The luscious flavors, framed by gentle oak and supple tannins, linger in the finish.

This food friendly, easy sipping Cabernet pairs perfectly with grilled rib eye steaks, spicy pork tenderloin with a cherry-thyme sauce, or pasta Carbonara.

Vineyard and Winemaking Notes

2013 was another almost perfect growing season. The fruit was ideal and the depth of flavors in the grapes forecasted the rich, delicious wines from this vintage.
Our Home Ranch Cabernet vines are located near the foothills on the eastern side of the Dry Creek bench. The elevated terrain and well-drained rocky, clay loam stress the vines just enough to limit yields and create small concentrated berries. These small Cabernet Sauvignon grape clusters—resembling blueberries in size and color—create an intense wine with concentrated, delicious flavors and a solid structure.

Aging for 10 months in French oak barrels, followed by almost three years of bottle aging, allows the flavors and structure to marry and mellow. The result is a smooth, rich, food-friendly wine to share with family and friends.
