2013 Cabernet Sauvignon

Only 220 cases produced
Retail Price $30

An inviting aromatic blend of dark cherry and currant is swirled with notes of mocha-laced oak and just a hint of cigar box. The easy entry quickly reveals layers of cherry—black, tart and Rainer—along with red currant, spicy cedar, and traces of caramel, creamy coffee, and eucalyptus. The luscious flavors, framed by gentle oak and supple tannins, linger in the finish.

This food friendly, easy sipping Cabernet pairs perfectly with grilled rib eye steaks, spicy pork tenderloin with a cherry-thyme sauce, or pasta Carbonara.

2014 Zinfandel

Only 161 cases produced
Retail Price $32

At Del Carlo Winery, when we say “Old Vine Zinfandel” we don’t mean 20, 40 or even 60-year-old vines. Our Zinfandel comes from vines that are over 100 years old—now those are old vines!

Through decades of sustainable farming practices, we’ve maintained the health of our century-plus old vines. Unlike many old vine Zinfandels that tend toward pruney or cloying flavors, our vines produce fruit with the great depth of character found in old vines and the bright fresh flavors of healthy, youthful vines. The proof is in the bottle.

Our Old Vine Zinfandel is grown in the heart of the Dry Creek Valley’s eastern benchland. These old vines, hand selected from our family’s oldest block, reflect the ideal 2014 growing season. Delicious and full flavored, this wine showcases the elegant and refined dimensions of Zinfandel, and seamlessly pairs with our favorite meals.

2012 Petite Sirah

Only 100 cases produced
Retail Price $32

When my parents purchased the ranch in 1947, there was some old clone Petite Sirah that had been planted in the late 1800s on the upper bench, toward the end of our property line. With graftings from these original Petite vines, we planted our current Petite Sirah vineyard in the mid-90s on the same site.

We’ve always produced a small amount of estate Petite Sirah to blend with our Old Vine Zinfandel. We love the depth of flavors, robustness and structure in our Petite, as do the other wineries that buy grapes from us. In 2012, we decided it was time to produce enough Petite Sirah to bottle as a single varietal and make available for others to enjoy too. We are so pleased with the results that you’ll be seeing a Del Carlo Petite Sirah in our wine lineup in the coming years as well.

Intense aromatics allude to the wine’s depth, offering layers of dark fruit, spices and minerality. The voluptuous mouthfeel reveals perfectly ripened blackberry and dark cherry mingling with a creamy chocolate and mineral essence that appears near the finish. Fresh and lively, this well balanced Petite’s richness and juicy fruit qualities reflect the ideal 2012 growing season.

Try pairing it with grilled tri-tip served with oven-roasted potatoes, a venison roast served with a traditional Cumberland sauce, or a leg of lamb stuffed with rosemary and garlic.
